Michael Sam is suiting up--but not to play football. The first openly gay player drafted to the NFL will be donning something a bit sparklier for his turn on Dancing with the Stars.
TMZ reported the being cast for the show's twentieth season, but suggests there's a hitch here regarding Sam's more sporting aspirations: "Sam--who insinuated he was cut from the NFL because he is gay--has vowed to get back in the league and said he'd take part in the first-ever veteran's combine on March 22," writes the site in a post. "But Sam needs to prove he has what it takes, and we're thinkin' some of the owners might question his commitment if he's focusing on the rumba rather than rumbling."
Hold up. Dancing with the Stars is going to be the disqualifier? Maybe Sam should be arrested for drugs, assault, guns, or animal cruelty. Those are the first several charges most recently brought against this NFL players in this USA Today list--and just from February 2015. And those weren't NFL disqualifiers.
