January 1 may not get here fast enough for gay Marylanders, but beautiful Baltimore isn't waiting. Visit Baltimore, the city's tourism board, has already launched a new microsite targeting same-sex couples looking to legally tie the knot next year. The site brings together new resources and old to guide today's queer fiance from tearful ceremony to romantic honeymoon--all in the best venues that the aptly-named Charm City has to offer.
With its annual LGBT Visitors Guide and Rainbow Round-up e-newsletter, Baltimore is definitely a city in touch with its more fabulous side. Tuesday's referendum results certainly drove that point home for Visit Baltimore, whose new microsite includes marriage license requirements, TAG-approved accommodations and venues for that fateful "I do" moment. Of course, these selections all come from the input of local LGBT leaders and business owners, giving it that extra sheen of authenticity.
Maryland isn't the only state hearing wedding bells. Maine's referendum success last Tuesday has led to the creation of GayMary.me, an online directory of ministers, notary publics, and attorneys who have pledged to officiate same-sex weddings. Maine has its own wedding guide, but nothing LGBT-specific--yet. The wait shouldn't be too long, though; those gay tourism dollars are hard to pass up.
