Greenwald immediately became a household name (and the bane of the U.S. government) for interviewing whistleblower Edward Snowden and reporting on Snowden's leaks regarding the National Security Agency. He also captured the attention of eBay's Pierre Omidyar, who has funded The Intercept, the new digital lightning rod launched by Greenwald, Laura Poitras, and Jeremy Scahill as a platform for investigative and watchdog journalism.
