The former State Sectretary cinched the primary race after a signficiant win in the Golden State.

Hillary Clinton made history this week when she became the first woman to head a major political party's presidential ticket.

With 2,383 delegates pledging their support for her after Tuesday's primary in California, she's pulled ahead of challenger Bernie Sanders.

This count includes Clinton's pledged superdelegates, who won't submit their votes until the Democratic National Convention at the end of July.

The California win added a whopping 475 delegates to Clinton's collection. Clinton also won in New Jersey, New Mexico, and South Dakota.

Sanders has vowed to fight all the way until the Democratic convention.

Clinton celebrated her victory last night in Brooklyn, New York, the state she served for two terms as senator.

Addressing a diverse crowd of supporters and suffrage pioneers, she said, "Tonight's victory is not about one person. It belongs to generations of women and men who struggled and sacrificed and made this moment possible."
