Because the state has absolutely nothing more important to do (like solve the toxic water crisis in Flint).

Even though marriage equality is law nationwide, the Michigan Senate recently passed a bill that banned sodomy, which is legally defined as either oral or anal sex . If passed in the Michigan House, the "crime" could be punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

Michigan joins a handful of other states (Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, and nine others) in its effort to ban sodomy. The move is both archaic and discriminatory, as well as absolutely ridiculous. Mic writer Mathew Rodrigues aptly points out: "Who has time for water that cannot pass a quality test when you can legislate the love that dare not speak its name?"
