The Silicon Valley billionaire has backed Trump since early on.

Now that Donald Trump has met with President Obama and will start getting regular updates of top-secret information from the government, he's started picking people to help with his transition into Washington. The latest addition to the team, which will operate under Mike Pence, is Paypal cofounder Peter Thiel.

You'll remember Thiel as the as the one with an axe to grind against media site Gawker, which outed him years ago and led him to fund Hulk Hogan's lawsuit against the site that eventually forced it to shut down.

"The mission of our team will be clear: put together the most highly qualified group of successful leaders who will be able to implement our change agenda in Washington," Trump said in a statement.

What may be the scariest thing about having Thiel in any place of power within the government is the potential media censorship. Before Gawker ran the story that outed Thiel he reportedly tried to suppress it in several ways.

Thiel has notoriously held strong opinions within the Silicon Valley sphere and was an early proponent of Trump's run for presidency.
