After launching an unsuccessful campaign agains gay marriage in America, she brought her fight to Australia.

Katy Faust, a self-proclaimed bigot, went on ABC's Latelineto speak out against same-sex marriage in Australia. Although Faust was raised by two lesbian parents, whom she claims were great mothers that influenced her own idea of what a mother should be, she felt deprived of a father figure. She developed her standpoint after converting to Christianity in high school.

"What I was delighted to find when I read scripture is that God has an incredible heart for the orphan and that he's very concerned with the plight of children," Faust said. "And that lines up very much with where we need to go in this discussion, which is focusing on the rights of children primarily as opposed to emphasizing the desires of adults, which tend to take center stage when talking about this issue."

She was motivated to make her political standpoint known when President Obama came out in support of same-sex marriage. Setting up an anonymous blog, AsktheBigot.com, to make her argument, she was outed by a gay blogger.

After launching an unsuccessful campaign against gay marriage in America, she joined Melbourne woman Millie Fontana, also raised by two mothers, to bring her fight to Australia.

"The truth is, I would not have filed a brief with the Supreme Court, I would not be having this interview with you here today, because I never intended to be involved in the legal fight," she said. "But because I was outed in the name of love and tolerance, I am talking with you today."
