According to Gay Star News, 12 men who were allegedly having a private party in Ain Zara, a suburb of Tripoli, the country's capital, were captured by a Libyan militia on Thursday, November 22 and are threatening them with mutilation and death for being gay. The group posted pictures of the men on Facebook (which have since been taken down), describing them as the "third sex," including one of the men "who had a henna 'tattoo' on his back," according to reports.
Although more details are scarce, Human Rights Watch Libya identified the group as Al-Nawasi militia, know for championing Salafist jihad.
