Idina Menzel Wants to Star in Wicked Movie Adaptation
With a little CGI, Menzel says, she could be back as Elphaba in the movie adaptation of the 2003 musical hit.
The Wicked movie is coming to screens in December 2019, and the original Elphaba, Idina Menzel, wants to be in it!
In a recent interview with PrideSource, Menzel discussed reprising her role as the Wicked Witch of the West.
"Let's be honest ... you want me to be honest? Or do you want me to say, 'Oh, sure, can't wait for whoever looks 20 years younger than me but can't sing as good as me gets the role?'"
Don't worry, Idina, we're rooting for you!
Menzel also has a solution to those who suggest she is too old for the part (the original production debuted on Broadway in 2003).
"I'm lobbying to do it like 'Benjamin Button.' A little CGI on a beautiful, green face. I could look gorgeous! Like, who cares--just take out a couple wrinkles. Green and exotic."
