WATCH: Lord Montagu Documentary Coming to VOD

Lord Montagu, the gripping tale of an English aristocrat imprisoned for "homosexual offenses" in the 1950s, will be released on all major Video On Demand channels on June 17.

Directed by Texas-based filmmaker Luke Korem, the documentary debuted at the BAFTAs in April 2013, and has been a favorite in queer film festivals ever since.

Lord Montagu follows the story of its title character, Lord Edward Montagu of Beaulieu, who at the age of 25 spent a year in prison because of his sexuality, and later rose to celebrity in the public eye by transforming his massive estate into a tourist attraction, complete with trains and merry-go-rounds.

Featuring interviews with many members of the Montagu family, as well as exclusive footage of Montagu's intriguing saga, Lord Montagu gives a rare glimpse into the gay life of British royalty.
