6 Things You’ll Love About Avengers: Age of Ultron

The assumed biggest movie of the summer is here, and whether or not you are a Marvel fanatic, you've at least heard of The Avengers (it grossed more than $1.5 billion at the box office in 2012). Even if you aren't planning to see the sequel, Age of Ultron, you won't be able to make your family and friends shut up about it -- so what the hell are you waiting for? Sure, a $250 million action film with CGI battlefield rife with explosions and lasers would draw in every person who claps during fireworks, but there's plenty more to appreciate about the movie. Here, our top reasons to see it.

1. The characters
The ever-expanding Marvel cinematic universe is so massive that it lets each main character develop over their individual storylines, so the heroes' traits and mannerisms have already been established. The first Avengers movie had to spend time hammering out group dynamics, but now that we're going into the sequel, the group banters are setting a believable tone for each scene the heroes have together -- even while storming a military compound in a fictional eastern European country.

2. You'll never refer to Elizabeth Olsen as "the other Olsen sister" again.
She plays the tortured, vengeful, post-traumatic eastern European telekinetic a little too well. Now that Olsen has landed the part of Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. Scarlet Witch, one of the original Avengers in the comics, she'll likely have a recurring role in the subsequent Marvel films, as they all run together for Infinity War. Her sisters gave the first half of this generation lovable twin antics, and she'll give the second half box office hits and explosion galore.

3. Aaron Taylor-Johnson
He got his big break as the nerdy self-made crime fighting hero of Kick-Ass, but Taylor-Johnson should never be allowed outside of a form-fitting thermal ever again. As Pietro Maximoff, Wanda's twin brother, he may not have any extensive lines, but his buff, brooding presence plays well opposite Olsen's slender talker.

4. The Under Armour shirts
Someone did something right when they got an Under Armour product placement on the books. When the team isn't mid-battle wearing their skin-tight costumes, what else are they going to wear besides skin-tight Under Armour shirts? Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Chris Evans get gold stars for making it look like they're being worn by store display mannequins with perfect pecs and abs.

5. The human element
It's not always easy to project vulnerability for your characters when one is a billionaire narcissist, another one is an unflinching rage machine, and a third is an actual god. For all the jokes about Hawkeye's uselessness or lack of super powers (he even got cropped out of this story's promo shot), the screenwriters paint him as the most personable character in the entire team, reminding them of humanity in all of its fragility, fierceness, and wonders.

6. There's plenty more to come
Marvel is easily foreseeable as the biggest cinematic dynamo of our time. The Avengers umbrella covers Iron-Man, Captain America, Thor, The Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and everything else relating to the infinity stones (more on that later). And that's not even counting the Marvel franchises that Disney doesn't own the rights to (yet) like X-Men and Spider-Man. Have you seen the MCU's calendar?
