Following its successful debut for Holiday 2010, Tommy Hilfiger's TOMMY label showed their spring/summer 2011 collection. It's a decidedly younger, braver vibe than that of the more mature and sophisticated line. There are clearly a lot of nautical influences and a focused and bold use of bright, overly saturated colors. While no stranger to preppiness, this collection definitely brings a sense of whimsy and cheeriness to the label, and also seems to serve as a more experimental think tank where bolder risks can be taken. An added bonus?

Well, well, well, this has been quite an extraordinary year for Mr. Billy Reid. The Tommy Hilfiger label has been doing some major reworking lately. In addition to celebrating 25 years in the industry this year, the label has re-branded itself with its quirky "Meet the Hilfigers" campaign and the "Icon Collection". In their latest coup, they've brought on menswear designer Simon Spurr (pictured above) to consult on their menswear line. It's an interesting combo, seeing as Spurr is known for his uber-sharp, ultra-luxe, razor-sharp modernity, while Hilfiger is a bit more uptight and preppy.

Oh, the internet. The great democratizer. All you need is a phone cord and a computer, and you too can skip right through that college english diploma, the summer internships, the years of slaving as a low-level, and poorly paid, assistant and head straight to the top of the masthead. Don't believe us?
