While many people equate the King with a rhinestone-studded jumpsuit and long bushy sideburns, his lip curled and brow damp (you know, elope-in-Vegas Elvis), we prefer to remember him as the young, dreamy crooner with an affinity for island life. In addition to a trio of 1960s film musicals revolving around tropical exploits (Blue Hawaii, Girls! Girls! Girls!, and Paradise, Hawaiian Style), Presley staged 1973's Aloha From Hawaii, the first-ever concert to be broadcast worldwide.

Jean Paul Gaultier has always been a man of the moment. He knows how to both shock and awe an audience, to the point where in the nineties, people found his runway antics infuriating and crass. But, at his core, he has been a free-spirited designer who has a sharp eye and and a dexterous hand.

Get better, girl. Diane Von Furstenberg was hurt by "some Brazillian man, who could not ski" on a recent jaunt to the slopes with hubby Barry Diller. The designer, who obviously shows no signs of slowing, broke her nose. Get well, girlfriend, New York Fashion Week is only a few days away!

Swedish fashion label ACNE has quickly risen the ranks from trendy hundred-dollar-or-more jean company to a full-fledged lifestyle brand that has come to represent the effortless cool that accompanies being young (and Scandinavian). The brand hit on many of the trends that had emerged from both Milan and Paris, especially their particularly deft hand with proportions. Long jackets looks cape-like, but retained a restrained masculinity. T-shirts peeked through cropped knits in streetwear-inspired layers that looked insouciant.

"People still just think Zoolander, and to come out with your pride and dignity intact is probably quite hard in this business. Now there are younger guys coming in who want to be models. I'm actually proud to say I'm a model now. You pay your dues of not being listened to, but now people are starting to say, 'Maybe this guy's onto something.'...Trust me to end up working in the only industry in the world where women get paid more than men, and treated loads better. We're trying to change that.
