I live in NYC and spend vacations in Scotland. Who doesn’t need a waterproof and windproof waxed jacket you can brave anything in?

This is not how we like to start our last Friday before the holidays. Word from WWD is that Carine Roitfeld, editor-in-chief of French Vogue, is leaving the publication. This is not only completely unexpected, but totally major news. While Anna Wintour is cold, clinical and calculating -- a master puppeteer cloaked in Oscar -- Roitfeld is seen as lusty, warm and sensual.

J. Crew is now carrying t-shirts from hip Soho retailer Saturdays Surf Shop

Hey there Manhattan, looks like you've got a case of Brooklyn envy

Oh heaven to Betsy. What the hell is going  here? This looks like the damn Addams Family by way of New Jersey -- and not in a good way.

Ah well, there's always next year.

Mr. Edwards is succeeded by his wife, actress Julie Andrews. We have to agree with The Moment, Breakfast at Tiffanys is one of the most important fashion movies of all time. He will be missed (we also love Victor/Victoria, another Edwards-directed film).

Well this is a major bummer. Yigal Azroel has jumped the New York City ship and will now be showing his menswear collections in Paris, starting with Fall 2011. While this has been rumored for some time now, Style.com officially confirmed the date of his show as Sunday January 23rd. "I decided to show my men’s collection in Paris this season because I feel like the inherent aesthetic lends itself to a more a European feel,” he told them. And another one bites the dust.

While the pre-fall collections are well underway, most menswear is sadly ignored. Not so with Burberry, who gave us a sumptuous collection that is begging to be petted, prodded, and ultimately, worn. And we must, absolutely must, have that orange coat. Yes, we're not big fans of color, but that coat is a revelation if we've ever seen one.

While we love ourselves some Cathy Horyn and her pointed, fanciful and sometimes just plain nutty reviews and observations, she's not the only fashion critic around to make a splash. Robin Givhan, the fashion critic of The Wall Street Journal, is a powerful force as well. In fact, she's the only person to have been awarded a Pulitzer for criticism of fashion, and has spent the past two years in Washington DC so she can follow Michelle Obama and her fashion influence more closely. Not too shabby eh?
