The disgraced designer John Galliano, who was relieved from his duties at Dior last month after video footage of him amid a racist rant was released, has been ousted from his eponymous label. No word on who will replace him or if the company Christian Dior SA, which has a majority stake in the company, will ditch it.

We were such messes back then and hadn’t realized the clocks had changed an hour back. It was early morning and we were doing the final lint-rolling still in our pajamas (read: underwear!) thinking we were totally on time, when the elevator door opened and the editor-in-chief of the magazine walked in. There we were, lint-rolling half-naked. We were mortified."

On Monday, on an unexpectedly, yet very welcome, temperate day the folks from Banana Republic showed their fall 2011 collection. Taking place at New York's elegant and hip Bowery Hotel, guests were greeted with flutes of champagne, friendly, easy chatter and live music from the band A Fine Frenzy -- featuring the sprite-ly vocals of Alison Sudol. They cited warm, autumnal colors, seperates with layered simplicity, and subtle equestrian references as their inspiration.
