Whoa. Whoa. Whhhhooooaaaaaaa. So it appears there are more shake-ups at Barneys. Simon Doonan is still at the company (thank God) but he has been promoted to the position of creative ambassador-at-large. Dennis Freedman, formerly of W magazine, will take over Doonan's place (and likely report to Doonan as well). It appears that Mark Lee, who was brought on as CEO last year, is not content to just come in and make nice with the existing staff.

If you think that being a celebrity is all puppy dogs and moon beams, think again kiddies. Sometimes, but only sometimes, you have to rough it with the common folk. Looks like one of our top celebrity crushes, Jake Gyllenhaal, was spotted riding the Q train, all inconspicuous-like. Not only that, but Jake -- a California native -- must have learned a thing or two about New York style because he is looking mighty fine in his top-to-bottom black ensemble, underground sunglasses and his baby-blues glued to a Blackberry.

So we think that Rachel Zoe's miniscule baby bump was getting pretty lonely out there on the west coast because now the world's teeniest mama-to-be has some competition: the incredibly slender and downright bony Victoria Beckham has announced that she has, once again, let the Greek god that is her husband mount her dainty frame and place another bun in her oven.

A friend of the family (well, OK then, Nick Denton if you must know) just alerted us to this terrific little blog, l'ombrello, a magpie's assortment of photos, found youtube clips, and the odd shot of Gumby. We especially enjoyed stumbling on this photo of PeeWee and Cyndi Lauper playing golf. Like, in a million years?! And why are photos of kitties always so damn funny?

Marc Jacobs, and his business partner Robert Duffy, aren't going nowhere. With Marc's eponymous line expanding rapidly, including the news that there would be an uptown location opening on Madison Avenue this year, and his diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs hitting its ten year anniversary, you would think the man is on top of the world. But WAIT!

Looks like the kiddies over at French Vogue decided to play it safe and promote fashion director Emmanuelle Alt to head of the magazine now that Carine Roitfeld is on her way out. Alt has established her influence on the magazine, so there shouldn't be a huge change in visual panache nor content. Whew, looks like Condé dodged the "lets do something interesting" bullet here and just decided to have someone just stick to the formula of success that someone else laid out. Le sigh, that's how they do it over there in the city of lights, we suppose.

"Generally, the fashion on the People’s [Choice Awards'] sapphire carpet offered much on top and bottom, with very little of interest in between. But nobody really cares about this show anyway; it’s so trifling in comparison with the Globes (next Sunday), the SAGs, the Oscars and the BAFTAs in London."
