The Tommy Hilfiger label has been doing some major reworking lately. In addition to celebrating 25 years in the industry this year, the label has re-branded itself with its quirky "Meet the Hilfigers" campaign and the "Icon Collection". After reading the always intelligent Cathy Horyn's assessment of one brand's (JF&Son) journey to creating a brand that has legs, but is also not a slave to China's high-volume production demands, we got to thinking about localized retailers. In today's world it's difficult to buy something that hasn't somehow been passed through a foreign manufacturer, which is kind of a bummer.
