For spring 2015, Michael Bastian travels to the Arizona desert and delivers a collection inspired by the late '70s.
“For many years now I’ve been escaping to Arizona to get away from it all, and this season I wanted to celebrate this amazing corner of America," said the designer. "There's something about the Sonoran Desert that allows me to turn my brain off and really relax, and I wanted the collection to reflect that laid back attitude."
Bastian's collection is also an homage to an unlikely muse: "We also, as an office, rediscovered our love for the '70s band, The Eagles, and a bit of their distinctive style crept in as well,” the designer added.
Using denim, suede, linen, and cashmere as the key fabrications, the designer plays with a palette of cactus green, lifeguard orange, sunset pink, and sand beige to pay tribute to the great American wilderness.
For this collection, Michael Bastian collaborated on a line of silver and turquoise jewelry with
George Frost. The slippers are part of Bastian's ongoing partnership with Stubbs & Wootton, and the bags were created with Frank Clegg.
Michael Bastian reunites with Chad White in the collection's look book. For trivia, the model recently celebrated his 30th birthday at Fire Island Pines.
