Shoe enthusiasts, rejoice! Berluti has partnered exclusively with MrPorter to bring the fashion house’s iconic footwear design to a more accessible online platform, marking this as Berluti’s first-ever ecommerce venture in the US.
While the venerable designer label is a bespoke atelier, the online shopping community has grown tremendously within the last decade. In response, the house has created prêt-à-porter merchandise to accommodate the rising demand and cater to an even wider, international audience.
Berluti debuts with 15 select pieces on MrPorter, and plans to eventually incorporate over 55 styles ranging from formalwear, outerwear, and accessories. Formerly named the “Alessandro,” this classic shoe by Berluti dates all the way back to 1895, when Italian shoemaker Alessandro Berluti created his first collection of footwear with his signature one-cut leather design. It made him famous among high society and Berluti became one of the most sought-after shoemakers.
The shoe is made of a single piece of untreated and tanned leather hide, masking any traces of stitching or extraneous detailing, and embodies the very essence of minimalism and the mark of a true craftsman. A handmade piece that is truly a one-of-a-kind.
