Calvin Klein Collection and HBO were honored as leader companies in AIDS research by amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, at the amfAR inspiration gala, held on Tuesday evening at the Plaza Hotel, in New York City.

Both companies were distinguished for making a profound impact on the state of AIDS research. Italo Zucchelli, creative director of Calvin Klein men's collections, and Francisco Costa, creative director of womenwear, both received the Inspiration award from Fergie and Out cover boy Matt Bomer, who were both dressed in Calvin Klein for the occasion.

Sjp-lombardoMichael Lombardo, president of programming at HBO, received his award from Sarah Jessica Parker (pictured, left), and was commended for the recent airing of The Normal Heart -- which received praise from President Obama earlier this week, too.

Hosted by Fergie's husband Josh Duhamel, the event also honored HRH Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, who received an award from Vogue Italia editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani for her constant engagement in HIV/AIDS activism and research.

Later, guests were treated to an intimate performance by the legendary British rock band New Order. The benefit also featured a live auction of luxury goods, and a full-scale runway presentation with men's and women's looks from Calvin Klein.

Proceeds from the event will go towards funding amfAR's AIDS research programs. The amfAR Inspiration gala was created to celebrate men's fashion and style, while raising money for the organization. Since its launch in 2010, the gala has raised over $13 million.
