Anna Wintour may have lost a bid to become an ambassador to the UK on our shores, but her name will go down in history no matter what.
To top her recent promotion within Conde Nast, the editor-in-chief of Vogue is receiving the honors of the Metropolitan Museum. Next May, after two years of renovation, the Met's Costume Institute will re-open bearing a new name: The Anna Wintour Costume Center.
Wintour has been a Met trustee since 1999, throwing successful fundraising events that have attracted the creme of the fashion industry. The New York Times reports that Wintour has raised over $125 million for the Costume Institute in her 15 years on the board. She was also instrumental in gathering the $40 million necessary for the Institute Center's makeover. Well done, Anna.
But wait! There's more: Wintour will also make her TV debut with the cable premiere of The Fashion Fund. After being confied to Hulu streams for three seasons now, the show got picked by Ovation TV. Somewhere between The September Issue and Project Runway, the six-episode series follows the group of designers nominated each year for the prestigious CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, and Wintour is a judge.
We're looking forward to seeing last year's winning team, Public School, which was our favorite from the start. And obviously, more quotable put-downs from fashion's favorite ice queen.
