Slated for a January 2014 release, the first movie based on the life of Yves Saint Laurent (simply entitled Yves Saint Laurent) will focus on the designer's early years, from his appointment at the head of Christian Dior at only 21, to his rise to fame after the launch of his eponymous ready-to-wear label.

In the title role: Pierre Niney, a French actor virtually unknown stateside, who bares an uncanny resemblance to the young Saint Laurent.
This first YSL biopic (another project is also under development with Gaspard Ulliel as Saint Laurent) seems to dedicate a large section to Saint Laurent's passionate love story with his partner, Pierre Berge. Promising!
