The fashion designer adds a dose of whimsy to the portable HP Pavilion

Brazillian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch is the latest designer to fuse fashion and technology for the folks over at HP. Taking inspiration from a gilded, lace dress from his fall 2012 collection (pictured above), Herchcovitch implemented a golden lattice-like passementerie to the outside of HP's ultra lightweight, portable Pavilion model. Yesterday at a press preview, we sat with Herchcovitch as he explained how he tried to introduce his philosophies to this state-of-the-art piece of machinery. "My designs aren't just designed on the outside," he told us, "the inside is just as important." To reflect that not only is the outside case decorated in the bronzed pattern, but it spills over on the trackpad and is superimposed over the keyboard. Additionally, the desktop is virtually embroidered with the lacy motif. Because Herchcovitch's collections can vacillate wildly from season to season, it was important that the timing be perfect for this particular product. "I wanted it to reflect something that was currently in stores," he stressed. Peep the pictures here, and it sure looks like he was able to achieve just that.

The Alexandre Herchcovitch for HP set, including computer, mouse, and carrier, will be available through QVC, for $629.95.
