Get ready to meet Carrie Bradshaw: Working girl.

Back in September, the CW announced that it would be adapting Candace Bushnell's book series The Carrie Diaries into a TV show. This isn't Bushnell's first book-to-small-screen foray as she penned the novel Sex and the City--which ultimately became the seminal HBO series about the lovelorn writer Carrie Bradshaw. The new book/program will see Bradshaw before she becomes an established writer looking for l'amour in the Big Apple. This series follows the fictional fashionista through high school and her early life as a writer in New York, set in the 80s (yessss). The first images from the pilot have leaked of AnnaSophia Robb, who will play the post-adolescent role, originated by Sarah Jessica Parker, of course. Perhaps fans of the original HBO series remember that in the first movie, there was a flashback sequence where audiences got a glimpse, via flashback, of Carrie when she first arrived to Manhattan--feathered hair and Flashdance off-the-shoulder sweater in tow. The CW's version, however, has a different take, as seen by the picture above. Seems that they think Carrie was a bit more conservative in her youth before she started maxxing out credit cards for Fendi baguette bags and feathery Dolce and Gabbana peep-toes. Regardless, we'll most certainly be tuning in once The Carrie Diaries finally hits the air.
