Hey, Sole Sister: Cole Haan Launches LunarGrand Wingtip

'Mad Men' meets 'The Jetsons' with the release of Cole Haan's newest shoe.

When it comes to classic footwear, Cole Haan is one of few companies that immediately come to mind. The American brand's foundation was built upon creating the ultimate gentleman's dress shoe, and has sustained that original intent for over 80 years now. But that doesn't mean the company has its head sheepishly buried in the sand. They, like many others, know that--especially in the fashion biz--to resist change is a surefire way to become passe. So as the company has evolved, they've wisely introduced new elements to their products, keeping them relevant, and appealing to the modern man (and woman). Their latest effort is the LunarGrand Wingtip, which marries the classic leather top of a dress shoe, but incorporates a colorful, sporty sole. Thanks to CH's relationship with Nike, the LunarGrand's base mimics the lightweight, cushioned underside of a sneaker, and is offered in four striking, neon hues.

"When you understand what people are doing in their shoes today, their expectations of style and demands of functionality, you can create products that really do make a difference as people go about their everyday lives," says Cole Haan's VP of Design, Phil Russo. The shoes are available starting tomorrow, March 3rd, but sadly, if you're not in New York City, it may be a tad difficult to get your hands on a pair--the collection is being sold exclusively at Cole Haan's Soho boutique. But hey, you've got a phone and a credit card, right?
