Cross-Dressed to the Nines: Boy. by Band of Outsiders Pre-Fall

While most people are pre-occupied with the rapidly approaching holidays--and the gift shopping it calls for--those in the fashion industry are in the midst of a juggling act. On top of holiday cheer, now is the time to sneak a peek at the pre-fall collections--set to be released in the late summer of 2012. This intermediate season is mostly geared towards women, so other than a few quick glances, I typically don't pay much mind to it, but, of course, I'm apt to check out what California-based designer (and dream nerd-boyfriend) Scott Sternberg is showing for the fairer sex. And suddenly, whilst flipping through his 18-look collection, I found myself itching for something. No, it wasn't one of his girly tiered dresses or sexy taut leather skirts (though those were cute)--it was a classic navy sweater in the last look, with the word 'Boy.' emblazoned on it. It's not overtly fabulous, but it's exactly the sort of playful twist on a classic conceit we've come to expect from the designer. Nevertheless, next fall, don't be surprised if you find me lurking in the lady's section of your local boutique (incognito with headscarf and sunglasses in place, duh) searching for this quirky little gem.
