In 1980, Lauren Foster got her big break. She was arleady an established international model working out of Paris and Johannesburg, but she scored a six-page editorial in VOGUE Mexico. At first nobody realized that the new it-girl of VOGUE was a transexual.
The story spread, but Foster granted her requisite tabloid interviews to keep the story in her control. Since then she's had the dream jetsetting career that most cisgendered models dream about: affairs with high class designers like Prince Egon Von Furstenberg, later managing tours for the likes of Grace Jones and Boy George.
But most recently, Foster's still-gorgeous face was captured in a new photograph by Greg Gorman, the high-powered celebrity photographer. She appears alongside Alex Davis, an LA scenester/singer-songerwriter/son of Brad Davis who happens to be a transman, as Gorman wanted to capture the first "Male-to-Female and Female-To-Male photo shoot" (perhaps Gorman has never heard of Allanah Starr's Big Boob Adventure, but we digress.)
Aside from looking fabulous (and 25 years younger than her 55 years), Foster will be in New York this week to host an "evening soiree in the penthouse at the glamerous Hotel on Rivington." Fancy! Try and get in if you can; being a VOGUE model will certainly help.
