A new online series follows campers as they come to terms with who they are

In the Boy Scouts of America, you aren't allowed to volunteer if you're an openly gay adult. So even if you've been a part of the organization your entire adolescence, once you turn 18, you're out if you're out.

A new web series, Camp Abercorn, focuses on four staff members of the "Compass Guides of America" at a Boy Scout-style summer camp. There's the archetypical life-time scout, Russell (Brad Leland), who is the shooting-sports director, his protege, Zak (Morgan West), who is closeted and risks expulsion if word gets out. Then there are the implants -- new camp director Mark (Tyler Cook), and Colin (Declan Michael Laird), the Londoner who is the descendant of one of founders of the Compass Guides and wants nothing to do with the camp.

The project's IndieGoGo campaign is looking to raise funds to help cover a variety of costs including pre and post production, cameras, and equipment, with the majority of funds going to compensate the cast and crew. Perks include Boy Scouts-esque patches, the opportunity to be an extra on the show, and even multiple set visits. So far the team has only been able to shoot a trailer for the series.

The campaign has managed to raise about 40 percent of their goal, but the campaign ends August 8. So there's still time to back the project and turn the idea into a reality.
