Golf Alpha Yankee wants to expose the untold stories of gay Iranians

Being closeted and not being yourself is difficult for anyone but in places like Iran it can be a matter of life and death. Many Iranians have suffered imprisonment and physical torture at the hands of the police just because they were suspected of being homosexual.

In a new feature documentary, Golf Alpha Yankee, director and producer Rick Flynn tells the story of these lives, which are at stake because it was discovered they were gay. Through real testimonies and fictionalized dramatizations, their stories unfold and expose the harsh conditions that some foreign LGBT individuals face.

In order to generate awareness for their stories, Flynn has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help cover post-production costs. Flynn and his team have dozens of hours of footage they've accrued over the last two years with the help of grants from Berlin's Freie Universitat and several other organizations.

They're ready to create and deliver a finished product with the help of supports from across the world. Incentives for donating are extremely varied, ranging from personal thanks on social media, copies of the completed film, baked goods, and a personalized note from Flynn, to appointments with the film's hair stylist or makeup artist, a trip to the premiere, and even a mural on one of your walls by artist Alan Aine. The campaign, which has raised about a third of its $30,000 goal, runs until August 17.
