The singer re-imagines B-horror movies for the cover of Out

In 2009, Lady Gaga found herself traveling the world as she headlined The Fame Monster tour in support of her first studio album. In less than a year, the artist went from a sleeper hit to the industry's It Girl and people were still trying to figure out what to make of her. She combined elements of Paris Is Burning, Walter Gropius, Harajuku 'cosplay' and bubblegum pop.

"My whole life is a performance," Gaga told Out in the September cover story. "I have to up the ante every day."

Five years later, the singer continues to live out that performance with ArtRave: The Artpop Ball, her fourth tour. The latest outing has Gaga in outlandish outfits, which always seems to outdo the previous getup. Gone are the goth days of Gaga's 2009 cover and in are looks that channel the modern art world that inspired her third album, ArtPop. But one thing that hasn't changed--her taste for glamour.

"I believe in living a glamorous life and I believe in a glamorous lifestyle," Gaga said. "What that means is not money or fame or prestige. It's a sense of vanity and glamour and subculture that is rooted in a sense of self. I am completely 100,000% devoted to a life of glamour."
