Philadelphia Magazine is reporting a murder of a young gay man who disappeared after going to meet a man he met on the hook-up app, Grindr. The body of Dino Dizdarevic was discovered in a lot on Parker Street in Chester, Pennyslvania, last Thursday, 1 May. He had been strangled and severely battered around the head, according to DA Jack Whelan. Police are still hunting for suspects.
Dizdarevic, whose family fled to Kentucky in 1995 as refugees from Banja Luka in Bosnia, was reported missing by his boyfriend, Nick McBee, last Thursday morning after Dizdarevic failed to return home. According to Philadelphia Magazine, the couple had an open relationship, and McBee was aware that Dizdarevic had gone to meet another man, but began to worry when he failed to check in on Wednesday night. Dizdarevic had been due to fly to Kentucky to join his family for the Derby last weekend. Instead, his sister Una found herself flying to Philadelphia to mourn with McBee. A commemoration page on Facebook has become a magnet for friends to share memories of Dizdarevic, a chemical engineer, described as "the life of the party" by one friend, Drew Owen, who added, "He was one of those guys who would walk into a room and make immediate friends."
