In what sounds like a film match made in heaven, Meryl Streep has been tapped to star in the Diablo Cody-penned film, Ricky and The Flash. According to Variety, the Streep would play a fading rockstar who tries to reconnect with her estranged children when one of them goes through a divorce.
Considering Cody has propelled Ellen Page (Juno) to an Oscar nomination and given Charlize Theron (Young Adult) some edgy material to work with, this seems perfect for Streep, who is coming off August: Osage County where she played a boozy matriarch.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Demme, the director behind Silence of the Lambs, is attached to helm the film. He previously worked with Streep on the remake of The Manchurian Candidate and earned Anne Hathaway buzz for Rachel Getting Married.
Hopefully more to come as the project options a studio. In the meantime, Streep can be seen serving of grey lady realness in The Giver.
