Gaga denies reports that her third album lost $25mil and Interscope had to lay off staff

A quick survey over the media landscape will show that Lady Gaga's third studio album, ARTPOP, was very much a mixed bag of an album. It wasn't bad enough to deserve derision nor good enough to earn praise. It was, for lack of a better term, blah.

It was also a supposedly very expensive blah. Reports from this past November stated that the album lost Interscope $25 million and there were even rumors floating about that Interscope would have to lay off personnel because of the loss. That was very easy to swallow considering the general ambivalence from music critics toward the album and that fact that it only moved 258,000 copies its first week. Well Gaga says that the layoffs and the $25mil figure are as fake as her...well everything.

According to Billboard, Gaga went on her LittleMonsters website to dispel the rumors once and for all. She wrote, "there is no truth to many of your comments, including the 25 million dollars deficit. These are rumors that are being repeated and spread."

That very well may be true. The original Examiner article reported the $25mil figure has been taken down, and Vulture has retracted their article. We have the full post from LittleMonsters below:
