When Tig Notaro opened her comedy set with, "Hello, good evening, hello, I have cancer, how are you?" she probably never expected the mountain of accolades that would come her way (Out also included her in its Hot List this past summer). The fearless comedian spun her story into something mesmerizing, both heartbreaking and, oddly, hilarious. Fellow comedians--including Bill Burr, Ed Helms, and Louis C.K.--persuaded her to release the set (recorded live at the Largo Nightclub) to the public (it was first released digitally in October 2012 and the following year in CD and LP). And now "Live" is nominated for a Grammy for Best Comedy Album.

As she explained earlier this year, "When Louis C.K. called me the day after and said, 'This needs to be released,' I pictured myself running off to a deserted island after I released it. I never would have released that on my own, never in a million years."

Thanks, Louie, we're glad she did.
You can stream "LIVE" on Spotify.
