Don Lemon Get His Own Primetime CNN Show

The out journalist is no stranger to controversy, but he may be the edge CNN needs right now.

Don Lemon, the handsome CNN anchor who first came out in The Advocate when describing his 2011 memoir, has been a prominent media figure not just for being openly gay, or for his copious tweeting, but also for not shying away from offering his opinions on news issues of the day. His conversations with luminaries on "stop and frisk," gun control, and issues facing African-Americans have themselves spurred lots of conversation, and turned on lots of viewers.

Seizing the opportunity, CNN has given Lemon his own primetime show, five days a week on the network. The show begins in December and will air at 11pm (10pm Central) in the time slot currently held by reruns of Outfront hosted by Erin Burnett. The show will be a one-topic show that looks at issues of the day that in Lemon's view are underreported, or worthy of a closer look.
