Philomena stars legendary actor Judi Dench as an aging Irish woman who gave a child she had out of wedlock away for adoption in the United States and who's now searching for clues about him (SPOILER: she discovers he was a gay Republican) after moving on with her life and starting her family. The film is based on a true story and adapted from BBC correspondent Martin Sixsmith's book The Lost Child of Philomena Lee, Dench stars alongside Steve Coogan. But it also happens to have two curse words, earning it an "R" rating from the MPAA.

They Weinstein company is filing a formal appeal, something they also had to do when the documentary Bully also earned an R-rating, which would have precluded it from being screened for the very young people it was intended (and defeating the purpose of addressing the language of bullies).

In response, Dench and Coogan have created a fun spoof available on Funny or Die in which she reprises her M role from the Bond films and gives Coogan a "mission" to get the MPAA to switch the rating to PG-13. "Would you want me to kill Adam Sandler while I'm there?" Coogan asks. Although M says no, we say, "Sure, Steve, why not?"
