Oprah has decided October 27 will be a day of special gay programming on OWN. She starts with Oprah's Next Chapter focused on "Being Gay in Hollywood" (9 p.m. EST), and it will feature a conversation with Wanda Sykes, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Dan Bucatinsky. The fact all three are talented funny actors means that things will probably start out light--before they get into darker, more personal territory. That's all preamble for the TV premiere of the documentary Bridegroom (10 p.m. EST) from director Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, best known as the creator of Designing Women and as a close friend (and later documentarian) of the Clinton family.

INTERVIEW: Shane Bitney Crone Discusses Life After Bridegroom

Bridegroom tells the real-life story of Shane Bitney Crone and the film's namesake, Tom Bridegroom, and is a compelling tale about what can happens when a couple is denied the legal protections of marriage. It's been a tear-filled hit on the festival circuit, but now it will reach an audience that may not have known about the heartbreaking tale (get ready with the Kleenex moms across America!). Before it's anointed by Oprah, it will receive a special theatrical release Oct. 18 in Los Angeles and will be available on DVD beginning Nov. 19.
