…And 5 Other Things You Need to Know

1. The Fox network has picked up Lee Daniel and Danny Strong's new "Hip-Hop Drama." The director and writer are the pair behind Lee Daniel's The Butler. The show, according to Deadline Hollywood, is a "unique family drama set in the world of a hip-hop empire."

2. Selena Gomez had to cancel her concerts in Russia after the government denied her a visa. According to The Moscow Times, the Russian government is tightening its border policies after foreign musicians like Lady Gaga and Madonna defied Russia's anti-gay laws, but Russia has not told the press its reason for denying Gomez's visa.

3. The Onion, which is truly "America's Finest News Source," reports that since all homosexuals do indeed go to Hell, the underworld now has a vibrant, lively gay scene. It turns out that Hades is a welcoming and accepting place, which we will all look forward to spending eternity once we have crossed over to the here after and become damned. Check out the article here and watch their analysis of the latent homosexuality in Spielberg's Jaws here.

4. Have you had enough of Miley? If your answer was, "Hells yeah," than I'd avoid MTV on October 2 as if it were a bottle-blonde plague twerking toward you. Variety reports that on that red letter day, MTV will air it's hour long documentary "Miley: The Moment." We're now taking suggestions for the "Miley: The Moment Drinking Game." Oh and she also hates the new iPhone update, in case you were interested.

5. I'm firmly of the opinion that a couple only gets to register for gifts if they have an open bar. If I'm going to rent a tux, buy a bus ticket, and go in for half on a Kitchenaid food processer in Empire Red, I had damn-well-better not have to pay for my gin and tonic. In an even greater breach of etiquette than making your guests pay for their own hooch, Eric Turner and Morne Coetzer are asking complete strangers to fund one of four weddings their having. According to Gawker, they've decided to have one the quartet of extravagant ceremonies in South Africa, the birthplace of Morne, and have set up a Gofundme site to ask for donations. They took down the site when Gawker got wind of it.

6. The trailer for Blue is the Warmest Colour, the French lesbian coming-of-age story that won the Palme d'Or at Cannes is out and after seeing it, you'll get an idea of why it won. Check it out below:
