5 TV Shows We're Excited For this Fall

With everyone from Sean Hayes to sex researchers airing this season (don't forget Anna Faris), we should be set

Mom
Anna Faris, reigning queen of self-aware ditziness, plays a single mother trying to set a good example for her kids post-rehab. It won't be easy for her with her slutty mom-ager (Allison Janney) hanging around, doling out questionable advice and tart passive-aggressiveness. But it'll be perfection for us.

Trophy Wife
We'll watch anything with Marcia Gay Harden in it... and have (Lifetime's 2011 Amanda Knox biopic, anyone?). The fact that she's waging a bitter domestic war against her ex-husband's perky new wife (Malin Akerman) is just the catty cherry on top.
(September 24 at 9:30 p.m. EST, ABC)

The Michael J. Fox Show
The highly anticipated return of Michael J. Fox looks promising in this self-referential show about a newscaster who heads back to work five years after going public with his Parkinson's diagnosis. Bonus: Breaking Bad's klepto-queen Betsy Brandt plays his wife.
(September 26 at 9:30 p.m. EST, NBC)

Sean Saves the World
And speaking of self-referential, Sean Hayes plays... Sean, a single gay helicopter dad intent on raising a perfectly well-adjusted teenage girl. We're glad to see him rebound from the criminally canceled Up All Night, where he was proving a great sidekick to Maya Rudolph. Plus, Megan Hilty costars as his BFF.
(October 3 at 9 p.m. EST, NBC)

Masters of Sex
Experimental vibrators, Mad Men-era interiors, and the infinitely likeable Lizzy Caplan are just a few of the many draws of this 1950s drama about pioneering sexuality researchers William Masters and Virginia Johnson. Also, premium cable = premium nudity (we hope).
(September 29 at 10 p.m. EST, Showtime)
