And 5 Other Things You Need To Know Today

1. There seems to be no end to the fallout of Miley Cyrus' VMA performance. Everybody from Angel Haze to Cyndi Lauper to the inventor of the foam finger has expressed his or her disgust at the MTV spectacle. Thought the performance may have been Miley's way of once and for all sloughing off her Disney Channel "Hannah Montana" image, it may have also cost her a Vogue cover. Miley was supposed to grace the cover of the illustrious fashion mag, but the kibosh has been put on that, supposedly by editrix Anna Wintour. According to the New York Daily News, Ms. Wintour found the display "distasteful" and is going to "take the cover in another direction." I'm sure that Cyrus' latest video "Wrecking Ball," in which she writhes around naked on a piece of construction equipment, hasn't helped the situation.

2. Pop music legend, Boy George, released the audio for "King Of Everything" off his upcoming album, This is What I Do, over the weekend. The track's stellar, plus the video opens with some vintage Joan Rivers. Check it out here.

3. The primary election for New York City mayor is tomorrow and outgoing mayor Bloomberg made a last second slam at Democratic contender, Bill de Blasio this weekend. Bloomberg told New York Magazine that de Blasio's campaign is "class-warfare and racist." Why? Becasue de Blasio is campaigning with his wife, who happens to be African-American. When asked to clarify what he meant by "racist," Bloomberg backpedaled, saying, "Well, no, no. I mean he's making an appeal using his family to gain support." A mayoral candidate using his family to gain support?! The scoundral!

4. The one-and-only Tina Fey will host the series premiere of Saturday Night Live with Arcade Fire as the musical guest. The following week Miley Cyrus will be both the host and musical guest--we'll see if that one sticks. The week after that the host and musical guest will be Bruce Willis and Katy Perry, a.k.a the stars of my dream buddy cop movie.

5. Pink Star News reports that FIFA is urging Quatar to relax its anti-gay laws for the 2022 World Cup. Director of Football Against Racism, Piara Powar, a member of FIFA's task force for exhorting the arab state to let up on anti-gay legislation, says that he wants all fans, regardless of sexuality, "to feel comfortable" at the game. The soccer governing body has been focusing on the saftey of LGBTQ players and fans, as the 2018 World Cup will be held in Moscow. FIFA may have to move the 2022 World Cup to the winter, as temperatures can reach 50 degrees centigrade (122 degrees fahrenheit) threatens the safety of both players and fans.

6. What's the gayest thing you can imagine? Whatever that is, this is gayer! Lady Gaga performed her new single "Applause" with a Wizard of Oz twist and a "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" intro on "Good Morning America" this morning. Check out the video below:
