Weiner Wishes On Phallic 'New Yorker' Cover

Weekly goes for the gusto with crotch-centric political send-up.

Anthony Weiner will not be New York's next mayor. Yes, there was a glimmer of possibility when the former congressman announced his return to the political ring, but that glimmer faded when it was revealed by that Weiner was doing the exact thing that ended his career in the first place: texting pictures of his penis to women who are not his wife.

But Weiner's personal failings make for great comedic material, and New Yorker cover artist John Cuneo went full throttle in depicting the massive mistake that is Weiner's existence at the moment.

"Free association made me think of the Empire State Building, and then King Kong, the iconic image of him straddling it," Cuneo said of the occasionally gay magazine's particularly phallic cover. "And then Weiner sexting, his head tilted and looking a certain way--I just stumbled upon the image as I was sketching. But all I could think about while working on this piece was, 'Will Weiner still be in the race by the time it runs?'"

Weiner is indeed still in the race, though probably not for long.
