He played heartthrob Finn Hudson on Glee and dated his costar Lea Michele in real life. Now the news that Cory Montheith's body was found in a hotel room in Vancouver on Saturday is sending shockwaves through Hollywood.
There has been no official cause of death issued (an autopsy will take place on Monday), but the police say he checked into the hotel July 6 and there was no apparent foul play.
Adam Shankman, who directed an episode for each of the past three seasons, told CNN that Monteith was the glue of Glee. Shankman apparently talked to Monteith Saturday morning, and the actor told him wanted to come down to California to Jet Ski.
While Ryan Murphy and many of the costars, including Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer, and Matthew Morrison, have not issued any statements, a few other actors from the show have tweeted. Dot-Marie Jones, who plays the football coach at the fictional William McKinley High, tweeted: "I have no words! My heart is broken. Cory was not only a hell of a friend, he was one amazing man that I will hold close to my heart forever." Glee's Mark Salling tweeted a simple: "No".
