Extra Fancy Furniture, Anyone?

With Previously Owned by a Gay Man, Bay Area hoarders have a lucrative proposition for unloading their precious bric-à-brac and objet d’art

Got extra junk? Superfluous, fancy, gay junk? Don't give it away! Previously Owned by a Gay Man is a new "recommerce" site that trades on gay men's reputations for having nicely decorated houses with nice stuff, and will sell your gently-used but unneeded furnishings on to others in need. Well, sort of in need. In need of nice stuff.

The site proprietors, Michele Hofherr and Lindsay Snyder, say you've got, on average, over $7,000 worth of unused items in your home. And the tasteful gays in San Francisco have even more! So they'll help you sell it without having to step a cyber foot into the digital wasteland that is eBay. Or heaven forbid, Craigslist.

"I'm always on a quest to find and pass along the next great piece in home decor. It's fun to poke around in beautiful stores, but I couldn't find an online venue that cut through the clutter and had one of a kind treasures. In thinking about building my own, I thought about my friends, especially my gay friends, who constantly edit their homes as a hobby. With 'recommerce' being the next wave in shopping it seemed like an obvious time to create this marketplace," said Hofherr, co-founder and CEO.

It's like a gay estate sale, and you don't even have to be dead to participate.
