Conquer LA and Defeat AIDS

The Urban Obstacle Challenge will raise money for the AIDS Project Los Angeles

Scale the Hollywood Sign, cross the Tar Pits, beat the 405 all over again--and all for a good cause. The 2013 Concrete Hero Urban Obstacle Challenge, taking place on July 14 at Los Angeles State Historic Park, is your chance to take on LA.

Obstacles like the "The Hollywood Sign Climb," "Carmageddon," and the "Tar-Pit Traverse" and a few more surprises will all be waiting for you to surmount them. The money raised through Concrete Hero will be put use through the AIDS Project Los Angeles to support such vital care programs as the Vance North Necessities of Life food pantries, which distribute more than 160,00 bags of groceries to people facing HIV/AIDS and hunger in LA. Another beneficiary is the APLA Dental Services, which provide over 21,000 free and low-cost, dental procedures to people living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County.

"Many of those living with HIV/AIDS are not able to afford basic life-essentials such as food, safe housing, and dental care because the costs for life-sustaining medical treatments are beyond their means," says Craig E. Thompson, executive director at APLA, which is the largest non-profit AIDS service organization in the United States. "The funds raised through Concrete Hero help power programs to ensure folks living with HIV/AIDS receive the vital care they need to live better lives, while also supporting prevention and education programs across Los Angeles County that target those at greatest risk, including youth along with men and women of color."

Just like Michael Douglass in Falling Down, why not take on The City of Angels and win?
