When it was announced in the fall, the anti-LGBT group One Million Moms tried to shut down the new gay family focused show from ABC Family, The Fosters, because it goes against the groups' "family views."
The Fosters' executive producer, Jennifer Lopez, and creators Bradley Bredeweg and Peter Paige (who was Emmett on Queer as Folk) moved past those naysayers and will be bringing the progressive show to our homes this summer.
Starring Teri Polo (Meet the Parents) and Sherri Saum (In Treatment) as lesbian couple Stef Foster and Lena Adams, The Fosters brings a new family to our TV screens not often seen before--as most of the gay families currently on have a focus on gay men and their kids. And as Stef says in the new trailer, "We're definitely not the Brady Bunch."

Stef Foster (Teri Polo), a dedicated police officer, and her partner Lena Adams (Sherri Saum), a school Vice Principal, have built a close-knit, loving family with Stef's biological son from a previous marriage, Brandon (David Lambert), and their adopted twins, Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) and Jesus (Jake T. Austin). Their lives are disrupted in unexpected ways when Lena meets Callie (Maia Mitchell), a hardened teen with an abusive past who has spent her life in and out of foster homes. Lena and Stef warily welcome Callie into their home thinking it's just for a few weeks, until a more permanent placement can be found.
