'F TO 7TH' Launches with 'Off-Leash Hour,' featuring Michael Showalter
By Chloe Fitzpatrick
It’s finally here! Following the kickstarter campaign in October, we’ve been looking forward to the first episode of Ingrid Jungermann’s new comedy web series, F TO 7TH. It feels like Christmas in January.
You might recognize Jungermann from her recent web series The Slope which she co-created with her friend Desire Akhavan (both were honored in the 2012 Out100). As the series about a lesbian couple living in Brooklyn’s Park Slope wrapped up its second season, the “superficial, homophobic” characters broke up, leaving one of them to ask, “Why did I even bother becoming a lesbian, aren’t we supposed to be best friends forever??”
F TO 7TH picks up right where The Slope left off. One half of the couple, (the half that would never “miss six, SIX” of her Park Slope Food Co-op shifts), goes on with her life, heads into middle-aged adulthood, and struggles to keep up with an evolving LGBTQ culture.
The first episode features our old-fashioned protagonist Ingrid caught in-between guest stars Michael Showalter (Wet Hot American Summer) and Isaiah Stokes competing over who is the better dog owner. Showalter greats Ingrid with a few pounds and punches, obviously eager to prove he’s cool with the butch ladies; Isaiah offers monotone comments about her dog being insecure, and hilarity ensues.
As Ingrid writes in her Kickstarter campaign, “shows that deal with lesbian, intersex, and trans issues are still a rarity,” and we’re so glad this one got the financial support for a green light.
