Jessica Lange to Return for Season 3 of 'American Horror Story'

Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will also play new characters

While we loved Lily Rabe in American Horror Story: Asylum, it was Sarah Paulson who won us over. It seems we won't be seeing Rabe in the next iteration from Ryan Murphy, but at least we can count on the kooky security of Jessica Lange and a hint that Paulson will also be back. (But nothing could compare to Lange singing "The Name Game" as she did in Asylum.)

As Murphy has teased (in his cryptic way), Season 3 will have a new story line per the show's unusual anthology format, he also wants to shoot a horror movie this spring. So not only will you get some heartfelt emotion from Mark Ruffalo and Matt Bomer in The Normal Heart for HBO, but other creepiness on the big screen. Oh, and expect Evan Peters to return next season, playing a new character as well.

As he told reporters, "female power" will be a major theme in Season 3, and according to EW, "he has promised Lange a decidedly better wardrobe, so he says to look for the star to play a more 'glammed-out' character." Plus, Murphy says Season 3 will have an iconic monster--Rubber Man in Season 1, Bloody Face in Season 2--but this time? "She's a woman," Murphy says.

But most interesting for Murphy fans, he's developing a feature film version of the movie that scared him most as a kid, The Town That Dreaded Sundown. According to EW: "It'll be set in modern times and take a meta approach to horror. He's working on the flick with Jason Blum, the producer behind the Paranormal Activity series. Murphy says that a key member of his AHS team will direct: Alfonso Gomez-Rejon."
