Russian Soccer Players In Love?

The Instagram vacation photos ofAlexander Kokorin and Pavel Mamaev, two young, Russian professional soccer players--which show them embracing, kissing, even cavorting in a bubble bath together while in Miami--have reportedly caused some controversy back home in Russia when the photos were published and subsequent gay rumors.

As Cyd Zeigler points out over at OutSports, soccer fans have started debating whether the guys are gay or just having some silly fun and he comments: " I know if I were gay in Russia I'd probably head to Miami for a break with my boyfriend. And if I were straight in Russia... I probably wouldn't be caught on instagram in a bubble bath and kissing my friend."

But Zeigler also notes the growing trend among heterosexual pals to express their affection this way (and soccer players always seem to be really, really affectionate with one another). He also reminds us that Russian fans have stated that they don't want gay soccer players to cheer on the field, so even if Alexander Kokorin and Pavel Mamaev were a couple, they probably wouldn't come out publicly about it.
