Pop sensation Kelly Clarkson shared the news of her engagement to boyfriend of 10 months, Nashville-based talent manager Brandon Blackstock, via Twitter on Saturday: "I'M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y'all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever :)"
Kelly predicted this moment back when the two met several months ago, as she told Ryan Seacrest in October on his morning radio show according to Us Weekly. Kelly met Brandon, who is also the stepson of her pal Reba McEntire, when he worked as Rascal Flatts' tour manager. "We were just in a room together, and then he came up and said he was from the same hometown as me," Kelly told Ryan, "and I was like, 'oh, we're so getting married' -- I was so that girl." Though Brandon was in another relationship at the time, Kelly waited it out and when he became single, "I was on the prowl," Kelly said.
Everyone thought they were engaged by then, even Ellen DeGerenes who asked Kelly about the relationship when she appeared on the Ellen show promoting her Greatest Hits - Chapter One album (which includes "People Like Us," which we noted how it is like a fantastic gay anthem). In her interview with Ellen in mid November, she still said that they will get married someday--and now he's finally put a ring on it.
Kelly tweeted a photo of her engagement ring, a yellow canary diamond with diamonds around it. She shared that Brandon designed it with Hollywood jeweler Johnathon Arndt, whose jewels (no pun intended) has been worn by Carrie Underwood and Reba McEntire, and she will be making a ring for Brandon with Johnathon as well. Congratulations Kelly and Brandon!
