There was quite the drama on last night's Glee. The New Directions lost sectionals, effectively ending their season for the year, as made known by one Sue Sylvester. But by the end of the episode, the gang finds a way to stay strong, covering "Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded House. Sam comes out with his feelings for Brittany and puts the moves on her, but she rejects him at the time to protect him from the wrath that would come from all the lesbians that love her and Santana (a nice nod to the real life Brittana fans). Later, she turns the other cheek and asks him out on a date. The highlights from the episode come from New York City, where Glee brought it back to showtunes.
First, a show stopping duet and music battle performance of Chicago's "All That Jazz" by Rachel and her teacher Cassandra (played by Kate Hudson):
Rachel gets an invitation to perform at the highlight event of the year, the NYADA winter showcase, something she thought would never happen. She kills it by singing "Being Good Isn't Good Enough" from her idol Barbara Streisand. Receiving a standing ovation, she continues and sings her favorite holiday song "O Holy Night," bringing tears to the audience and her win at the showcase.
To Kurt's surprise, as he got shot down again after reapplying to the music school, he was invited to sing at the showcase on the spot. He gives a beautiful, raw performance of "Being Alive" from Company, granting him a room full of applause and an acceptance letter into the school.
