Doyle takes over for Nic Rouleau in New York-based cast.

Actor Matt Doyle (and a 2011 Out100 honoree) will return to the Broadway stage as Elder Price in the award-winning musical The Book of Mormon. The young performer will replace Nic Rouleau in the New York-based cast, who will continue to play the role during the musical's second national tour. A premiere date has not yet been set for the new cast, though Doyle is already well into prep, as seen from a photo the actor tweeted Friday of his script and the LDS holy book (pictured).

Doyle_mormon_rotatorAfter a look at the fresh-faced actor's credits, it's clear that Doyle enjoys variety. No stranger to major Broadway productions, the actor already has memorable performances in War Horse and Spring Awakening under his belt. The recent release of Alan Brown's sexy film Private Romeo shows his gayer side; in it he starred as Juliet for the adaptation of the classic Shakespeare tragedy.

With such big roles already behind him, Doyle makes a natural casting choice for a new, impossible-to-get-tickets production of Mormon. But that doesn't mean Matt has stopped striving for new creative outlets: He's also released an EP, "Constant."

The show's national tour kicks off December 11 with performances at Chicago's Bank of America Theater.
