Chris Kluwe Will Call You Out for Hypocrisy

The football player and blogger leaves the 'St. Paul Pioneer-Press,' citing irresponsibility, idiocy

The surprise knight in shining armor (and November cover star) Chris Kluwe continues to talk the talk and walk the walk. The Minnesota Viking lampooned the St. Paul Pioneer-Press on Twitter in reaction to their supposedly neutral editorial on gay marriage. Kluwe then wrote his final post on his blog "Out of Bounds" for the Pioneer-Press, in which he bid the paper farewell and 'fuck you,' urging readers to follow suit.

Tomorrow, Minnesotans will vote on a constitutional amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman and the Pioneer-Press published an editorial on Friday ruminating on the amendment. The editorial reminded readers "whenever schools educate children about marriage they will have no choice but to teach it as a genderless institution" -- while remaining unbiased, of course.

Kluwe called 'bullshit' on Twitter:

"My main issue with the Pioneer-Press editorial is this: It's a lie. I have no problem with them taking a position I disagree with. What concerns me is them presenting a completely biased piece (word choice, examples used, conclusions) as a neutral position. That's not only irresponsible journalism, it's massively hypocritical."

He then tore the Pioneer-Press a new one in his terminal blog post for the paper, saying:

"You have made your endorsement, gentlemen. You chose your side. What you did not choose, what you refused to face, was the courage to stand for your convictions, to attach your names to the position your actions claimed. ... I reject you, and I encourage others to do the same - to you, and to all others like you. To those who perpetrate deception and fraud. To those willing to hide the truth of their beliefs."

Kluwe is intelligent, principled, and tenacious; so maybe that's why he isn't into the political game.
